The Equine Therapy Centre is a state-of-the-art facility that is open to everyone. All horses can benefit from some hydrotherapy work – they do not have to be injured or recovering from injury. Hydrotherapy can be incorporated into part of nearly any horse’s training programme. Hydrotherapy also has its place in injury treatment and rehabilitation and is widely recognised as an effective method of recovering and conditioning a horse back to full fitness. Every horse that comes to us has its own individual therapy programme. The centre is staffed by a team of dedicated and professional experts who ensure the best care for your horse at all times. With prices for taster sessions starting as low as £25, hydrotherapy is much more affordable than you might think.

The aqua treadmill is an exercise medium with some therapeutic elements, especially in the recovery or post-acute phase of an injury.
It assists in the following:
The College has a state-of-the-art BHA approved indoor straight line swimming pool which measures 30 metres long, 3.25 metres wide with a maximum depth of 2.7 metres. It has ramps enabling entrance and exit from both ends that gradually lead down into the water so that the horse can quietly enter into the pool whilst being led on two long reins along either side.
The pool also contains a variable force jet stream system that enables the horse to swim against a constant force of water if required.
The swimming lane has many benefits for horses as seen below:
Modern hydrotherapy spas use chilled saline applied in water jets to the lower legs. The water is held and cooled in our chiller at between -2 & -4 degrees, once the water reaches the horses legs the temperature varies at 2 to 4 degrees.
The spa assists with the following:
This item of equipment promotes the well-being and therefore performance of the horse through the infra-red lamps.
They also help to promote circulation and soothe tired muscles. It is useful before exercise to assist in warming up.
The UV lamps aid in drying with the combination of hot air diffusers which particularly benefit the horses that have been using the hydrotherapy facilities.
A range of other services are available which will complement the hydrotherapies. These can be utilised as part of the therapy package during a therapy livery stay or as an individual training programme on their own merit. These will help to:
Lungeing, long reining or ground schooling, on the flat and/or over elevated pole work, in straight lines and circles can be incorporated into the individual programme as well as including a variety of terrains from the artificial arena surface, to grass and using some gentle inclines.
Each horse and rider or owner combination is treated as an individual and the programme is designed around the needs and requirements of the rider and horse.
Sometimes it may be necessary and/or desirable for your horse to stay with us for a course of therapy treatments. Your horse will receive all the benefits of our full livery package plus the addition of the therapy treatments required. Their stay can be as long or as short as required. This may be of particular benefit to horses that cannot travel to the Therapy Centre on a regular basis. Prices start from just a single day.
“I cannot recommend Moulton college hydrotherapy centre highly enough. My horse was diagnosed as having kissing spine, part of our decision to go ahead and have Marley operated on was the peace of mind of being able to book him in to Moulton college for 12 weeks rehab after his operation. Their facilities, and handling care is second to none. Knowing that he was being professionally and lovingly looked after following his operation gave me peace of mind and confidence in his recovery. I could see how much he was improving and how strong he was getting each week and I knew I couldn’t of done such a good job from home. Jessica and her wonderful team took him though all his rehab stages hand walking, water treadmill and lunge work sessions, as well as having all his various stretches twice or three times a day. The team were always available on the phone to talk through his progress and were always so friendly and welcoming when we visited. He had his operation on 20th March 2017, I am now back in the saddle achieving some wonderful canter work. "I can’t thank you enough." Marley looks fabulous and most importantly feels wonderful. I would highly recommend the water treadmill rehab to anyone who wants to see great successful end results!" - Lucy S - July 2017
"Super service from extremely knowledgeable staff. Very well maintained equipment and we always feel very welcome here!" - Beth S - June 2017
"So pleased with Tally's fetlock since she came home from her week at Moulton College! The swelling around her fetlock has reduced dramatically I am so happy with the improvement!! Even her capped hock has reduced in size, which caused her no problems but still amazing. The girls at Moulton College are excellent! Their customer service was 5 star and so was the horse care! I would recommend this to everyone I know especially if your horse has any sort of tendon injury! Amazing!!" - Grace B - September 2017
"Thank you to everyone at Moulton Equine Therapy Centre for all of their help getting my horse back to fitness after his suspensory ligament injury. The aqua treadmill was excellent in assisting me to bring my horse back into work in a controlled environment, where we could increase his work steadily, so as not to reinjure his ligament. It has also helped him rebuild his core strength and fitness. My horse is a slight head shaker, so I have always struggled with the consistency of his contact and outline, but the aqua treadmill has helped this massively, as we could work him in side reins and he is now working properly over his back and into a steady contact. He is now gaining significantly higher dressage marks and feels more relaxed and happy in his work."

"I couldn't be happier at the way Jimmy returned for his spell @ Moulton Equine Centre. I was kept fully updated the whole time he was away and the Team liaised with me on Jimmy's training program while he was there.
Jimmy's return to the racetrack would not have been possible if it wasn't for them" - Simon W - April 2018
